FBA Pallet Storage: What It Actually Costs and How It Works at Our Ohio Warehouse

If you sell on Amazon long enough, you eventually end up with inventory that doesn't fit neatly into FBA's replenishment schedule. Maybe you bought a full container and only need to send half of it to Amazon warehouses right away. Maybe Amazon flagged your listing and won't accept more units until a review clears. Maybe you're just tired of paying Amazon's long-term storage fees on slow-moving SKUs. Whatever the reason, pallet storage outside of Amazon's network solves a real, boring, logistical problem — and it's worth understanding exactly what you're paying for before you commit a truck full of product to a warehouse you've never seen.

We run a 1,200 sq ft climate-controlled space in Lebanon, Ohio, and pallet storage is one of the more straightforward services we offer — but "straightforward" doesn't mean people don't have questions. So let's walk through how it actually works on our floor, not the marketing version.

How Pallets Get Received and Stored

When a pallet shows up, it doesn't just get shoved into a corner. Oleg or Tatiana checks it against the packing list or BOL before it comes off the truck — box count, visible damage, whether the pallet is stacked the way it was described. If something doesn't match, we photograph it and flag it before it goes into inventory, not after you ask why your count is off three weeks later.

Once it clears that check, it's logged into Ysell — the WMS we run our warehouse on — and physically staged on our warehouse floor. You get your own login and personal ID at Ysell.pro, so you can see exactly when your pallet arrived, how much cubic footage it's taking up, and what it's costing you, without emailing us to ask. If you haven't used it yet, we've got a walkthrough of how the platform works on our Ysell guide page.

Pallet storage runs $40 per pallet per month, flat. If your inventory doesn't come in on pallets — say it's a handful of boxes — we bill by cubic foot instead, at $1 per cubic foot per month, which usually works out cheaper for anything under roughly a quarter pallet's worth of volume. Receiving itself is billed separately: $25 per pallet at intake, always, whether the goods stay with us or go straight back out to Amazon. If you want cartons opened, counted and verified against your manifest, that's $10 per box.

Here's the part people skip past and then are happy about later: the first 7 days of storage are free, one time, for every new account. If you're landing a shipment and moving most of it straight out to FBA or FBM orders, you may not pay a storage fee on it at all.

Why Sellers Use Pallet Storage Instead of Amazon's Warehouses

Amazon's long-term storage fees kick in after 365 days, but their storage utilization surcharges can hit much sooner if your inventory-to-sales ratio looks off to their algorithm, which happens more often than sellers expect with seasonal or slow-turn SKUs. Holding a buffer outside of Amazon gives you a release valve — you send in what Amazon wants right now, and the rest sits with us until it's needed, at a flat and predictable rate instead of a variable one tied to Amazon's capacity mood swings.

There's also the practical reality of receiving limits. If Amazon caps how many units of a SKU you can send in a given week, and your supplier just delivered three pallets, you don't have a lot of good options. Storing the overflow with us means you're not paying for a second full truck delivery later, and you're not scrambling to find warehouse space on short notice. We don't require long-term contracts or a minimum volume commitment — you pay for what's on the floor, month to month, against a $50 minimum monthly charge on the account.

One thing worth flagging honestly: we don't accept frozen or refrigerated goods, and we don't take lithium batteries or large furniture. If your pallets include any of those, it's better to know before the truck leaves your supplier's dock, not after it's already on ours.

What Happens When You Need Product Moved

Storage isn't static — the point is that inventory moves in and out. When you need units pulled for FBA prep, forwarding to Amazon runs $5 per carton flat once the box is packed and labeled, on top of whatever prep work applies (FNSKU labeling starts at $1.00/unit for smaller quantities and scales down as volume goes up — full breakdown is on our pricing page). If you're pulling for FBM fulfillment instead, orders ship same-day as long as they're in before the 11:59am cutoff Monday through Friday.

If you're new to how prep and storage fit together as a workflow — receiving, holding, prepping, shipping — our prep center overview page walks through the full cycle from intake to outbound.

FAQ

How is FBA pallet storage priced, and is there a minimum commitment? Storage is $40 per pallet per month or $1 per cubic foot per month for non-palletized inventory. Receiving is billed once at intake, separately from monthly storage. There's no long-term contract required — you can store one pallet for one month and stop anytime, subject to the $50 minimum monthly charge on the account.

Do I get free storage when I start? Yes — every new account gets the first 7 days of storage free, one time. After that, standard monthly rates apply based on pallet count or cubic footage.

How do I check what's in storage and what I'm being charged? Through Ysell. Once your intake is complete, you'll typically receive your login credentials within 24 hours, giving you real-time visibility into unit counts, cubic footage, and running costs, available 24/7.

What if I don't receive my Ysell login after signing up? That shouldn't happen, but if it does, reach out directly — we've seen it take up to 24-48 hours in rare cases if intake paperwork was still being finalized on our end, and we'll get it resolved and send your login link right away.

If you've got pallets sitting somewhere costing you more than they should, or inventory Amazon won't take yet, get in touch through our onboarding page and we'll walk through what storage would actually look like for your volume. Questions first? The FAQ above covers most of them, or just contact us directly.
